Happy Christmas from MM3D! A seasonal review

Reflections on this year’s progress in producing 3D technical visualisations and high quality commercial graphics

Happy Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Christmas is a time for joy, giving, good food and good company!

It is also, positioned at the end of the year as it is, an excellent time for reflection on all that has come before.

This year has been a very busy time for MM3D Graphics, with a strong focus on improving our own visual branding materials and strengthening MM3D’s commercial connections with digital agencies and SMEs. As a company offering a premium visual service, it becomes eminently important that the visuals of MM3D itself are up to par with the high quality technical and commercial 3D imagery we create for our clients. To that end, a lot of work this year went into creating visually enticing PowerPoint presentations and attractive marketing materials emphasising our unique high-quality services.

Chief amongst new developments this year was the production of the MM3D Graphics Package Brochure in its first iteration. Not only was the brochure produced as an attractive, functional document that potential clients can browse at their leisure, but it was also made into a separate 3D asset. This brochure model is fully compatible with Augmented Reality demonstrations, allowing MM3D representatives to summon the brochure model into the real world through the view of a client’s smartphone with a simple QR code link.

The ability to view our digital brochure in the real world has proved powerful and has so far received a very positive reception from potential clients during meetings. Interestingly, producing this service for MM3D itself has also highlighted an attractive use of AR 3D imagery that future clients will no doubt be interested in investigating for their own products and services.

In addition to the focus on our own imagery, we have of course been busy working with our clients on a range of projects, including:

  • Visualising prototype products ahead of physical manufacture.

  • Reducing reliance on traditional photography.

  • Clearly presenting internal mechanisms and technical assembly instructions.

  • Creating reusable “evergreen” digital assets for ongoing marketing and presentation needs.

In particular, the demands for 3D product rendering have only increased, with clients showing particular interest in 3D rotating turntable animations and e-commerce visual imagery for their flagship products.

A consistent theme that has proved core to MM3D’s work with clients throughout the year is the importance of visual storytelling. Realistic 3D visuals offer an incredible opportunity for businesses to build their visual branding by creating an enticing story and mythos behind their product or service range that otherwise wouldn’t be evident.

From a technical standpoint, whether supporting marketing and sales teams or a firm’s manufacturing department, complex ideas benefit from being presented visually in a clear fashion. Again, MM3D’s work with scientific and industrial visualisation has helped clients with the clarity of their visual presentation. Our most recent client in December was a research group from MIT, for which MM3D produced an attractive graphic communicating the abilities of a complicated composite material without the need for any textual explanation.

High quality photorealistic 3D rendering is based strongly on attention to detail. This year MM3D has strived to continue to devote appropriate time to every phase of the 3D production pipeline, from modelling and texturing to lighting and composition. Going into next year, we’ll be continuing to create high-fidelity 3D assets for our clients that can be used across websites, presentations, trade shows and marketing campaigns. We remain committed to giving our clients full control and ownership of their brand story.

How has your business been shaping up this year?

What are you looking forward to in the New Year?

Leave your thoughts and experiences in the comments, we’d love to hear them.

MM3D graphics would like to thank all of our clients and collaborators for their continued trust and support throughout the year. Have a wonderful Christmas!
